Teamwork
Student Writing Council; President ('13-'14) and Secretary ('12-'13)
The Student Writing Council's (SWC) goal was to promote literacy throughout the campus. We wanted to provide creative outlets for writers, such as Open Write Nights, where writers could read their original work to a live audience. We also celebrated National Day on Writing with activities on Auburn's concourse, such as the Six-Word Narrative. The SWC promoted literacy off campus by teaching high school and middle school students about flash fiction and literary adaptations and modernization. During my time with the SWC, I served as both secretary and president. I took notes, led meetings, and helped organize and execute all events.

English Club; Director and President ('12-'14)
The English Club (EC) began with the desire to bring more of Auburn's English majors--as well as any student interested in English Studies--together. The EC hoped to encourage camaraderie, learning, and enjoyment of English through various events. During my time with the EC, I served as Co-Book Club Director, creating a panel of Auburn creative writing professors to provide information about writing and publish and creating a novel-discussion event; Co-Open House Director, who organized an event that brought faculty and students together in a casual environment; and EC President, who led meetings and oversaw all EC events.
At the end of my senior year, we decided that it would be best to merge the SWC with the EC with the EC as the umbrella group, so I helped facilitate the merger by leading meetings with the sponsors of both clubs and helping laying the groundwork for the future club. |
