About Me:
In August 2010, I began my career at Auburn University as an English Major. I wasn't sure what I wanted to do after graduation, but I knew I had to explore English literature. I discovered that literary texts are like puzzles, with each rhetorical choice as a piece. Maybe the puzzle is to understand how Men’s Warehouse uses music, texts, and images to sell suits when they say that suits are now for the “creators” and that “You’re gonna like the way you look” or the rhetoric Chaucer’s Pardoner uses when he tries to sell indulgences to the “lewed peple.” In both of these situations, the pieces come together to create a larger picture. It is the job of the scholar to carefully research and handle these pieces in order to put them together and make sense of them.
While I developed my interest in English Studies, I also developed my interest in teaching and writing center work. I began working at the Miller Writing Center (MWC) at the start of my junior year of college. After two years of working one-on-one with students, I realized that I wanted to explore Rhetoric and Composition so that I can better apply the skills I learned as a literature major to the writing center world or as a teacher. In May 2014, I graduated from Auburn, and in August 2014, I began my first year of my graduate career at the University of Louisville (UofL), where I currently serve as a GTA for the Department of English. I hope this website shows you how I developed my roles as a learner, teacher, leader, team-player, and professional during my undergraduate career at Auburn. While at UofL, I hope to continue developing these skills. Thanks for stopping by! |
